Life Care Center of Port St. Lucie is conveniently located close to the beaches, the New York Mets spring training facility and a number of family friendly attractions. For a day trip, we suggest:
- Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, opened in 2010, is a volunteer-run plant and butterfly garden. The garden features plants, flowers, mangroves and wetlands native to the area.
- Savannas Preserve State Park is a savanna with many native Florida wildlife, such as alligators, turtles, snakes and birds. The park has a rare plant, the savannas mint – the only one of its kind, which grows only in the park.
- North Fork St. Lucie River Aquatic Preserve is a freshwater preserve along a 16-mile stretch of the St. Lucie River where visitors can view river otters, manatees, alligators and various fish and aquatic life, such as snappers, shrimp, blue crabs and pipefish.
- The National Navy SEAL Museum and Memorial exhibits the history of the Navy SEAL and underwater demolition teams from World War II to the present. Exhibits include important ships, vehicles, spacecraft, weaponry and tributes to military animals.
