On Aug. 27, 2018, Life Care Centers of America honored Alexander Torres, director of nutritional services at Life Care Center of Port St. Lucie, with one of two President’s Awards for the Southeast Division.
The President’s Award, given during Life Care’s annual management meeting at its headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, recognizes distinguished service in a long-term health care management role. The Southeast Division includes 21 skilled nursing and rehab facilities in Florida.
Torres started his career with Life Care as a porter at one of its centers in Massachusetts and has since served as a cook, assistant dietary manager and dietary manger in addition to his current position. He was praised for his humble and unselfish leadership, working alongside his team and providing guidance and support.
Under Torres’ leadership, the dietary department has been deficiency-free for the past two years of state inspections. He often seeks out special choices for residents who want items that are not commonly on the menu, and former residents even come by just to have lunch or dinner at the facility.
“Alexander has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching his responsibilities to the associates, residents and families he serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”
Fifteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care.
